HEAD Boom Tour EX 2024 pickleball paddle review for India

The HEAD Boom Tour EX 2024 Pickleball Paddle is listed at ₹15,749 on InstaSport, which puts it firmly in the premium bracket for pickleball in India. HEAD's listing highlights a carbon hitting surface for power and responsive feedback, weight distribution tuned for manoeuvrability and control at the net, and an ergonomic grip. Here is what that means for your game and whether it is worth the price.

Key features

  • Carbon hitting surface: described as providing exceptional power and responsive feedback, which many players like for a connected feel on drives and dinks.
  • Optimised weight distribution: designed to enhance manoeuvrability and control at the net, which helps in fast hand battles.
  • Ergonomic grip: intended to be comfortable and secure during intense play.
  • Durable construction: aimed at long-lasting performance for competitive players.

Check the listing or the paddle itself for exact weight, thickness and grip circumference, as these affect feel and arm comfort. Our guides on paddle weight and paddle thickness explain what to look for.

Who the Boom Tour EX suits

  • Intermediate and advanced players who play regularly and want a carbon-faced paddle.
  • Players who value control and touch at the kitchen as well as power from the baseline.
  • Competitive and league players looking to move up from an entry-level composite paddle.

Who should look elsewhere

If you are new to pickleball, a lower-priced paddle is a sensible start; you can learn the basics without spending over ₹15,000. Pros and cons

Pros: carbon surface for power and feedback; net-friendly weight distribution; ergonomic grip; positioned for competitive play.
Cons: premium price at ₹15,749; may be more paddle than a beginner needs; carbon surfaces can feel firmer, so it is worth trying before you commit if you can.

Cheaper HEAD pickleball paddles on InstaSport

  • The HEAD Extreme Tour 2023 (₹9,186) is described as built for control and power for serious players.
  • The HEAD Attitude Core (₹5,249) is aimed at beginners seeking control and precision, with a lightweight build and foam handle.
  • The HEAD Attitude Team (₹4,999) has a composite hitting surface and ergonomic grip, suitable for all skill levels.

Look after your paddle

Keep your paddle in a cover or bag, avoid leaving it in a hot car and wipe the face with a damp cloth to remove dust. If you play on abrasive outdoor courts, inspect the edge guard and surface regularly. If you experience arm discomfort, check your grip size and paddle weight, and speak to a physiotherapist if it persists; this is general advice and not medical advice.

Our verdict

The HEAD Boom Tour EX 2024 is a good fit for committed pickleball players who want a carbon paddle with a focus on control. If you are still deciding on your style, start with one of the HEAD Attitude paddles and move up as your game develops.
