India Advances to Davis Cup World Group I Play-offs

India, 13 December 2025 — India has progressed to the Davis Cup World Group I play-offs after securing a 3-1 victory over Morocco in the Davis Cup World Group II tie. The matches were held at the Mini Stadium in Marrakech from December 11 to 12. Sumit Nagal and Ramkumar Ramanathan led the Indian team, displaying commendable performances in their singles and doubles matches.

On the first day of the tie, Sumit Nagal gave India a 1-0 lead by defeating Morocco's Yassir Kilani in straight sets. Ramkumar Ramanathan followed up with another strong performance, overcoming Elliot Benchetrit to extend India's lead to 2-0.

The doubles match on the second day saw Ramanathan pair with Rohan Bopanna to clinch the decisive victory against the Moroccan duo of Benchetrit and Kilani, sealing the tie for India. With this win, India has maintained its position to compete for advancement into the higher tier of the Davis Cup.
