India to Host FIH Hockey Men's Junior World Cup 2023

India, 2 November 2023 — The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has announced that India will host the FIH Hockey Men's Junior World Cup 2023. The prestigious tournament is set to take place in Bhubaneswar from December 5 to December 16, 2023. This will be the third time India hosts the event, following previous editions in 2013 and 2016. The tournament will feature 16 teams from around the world, showcasing some of the top young talents in hockey.

The decision to host the tournament in Bhubaneswar, a city known for its strong hockey culture and world-class facilities, underscores India's growing prominence in the field of international hockey. The Kalinga Stadium, which has previously hosted the FIH Men's Hockey World Cup and the FIH Hockey Pro League matches, will serve as the venue.

The Indian junior team, which has been preparing rigorously, aims to capitalize on home advantage as it looks to repeat its 2016 success, when it won the title in Lucknow. The tournament is considered crucial for nurturing the next generation of hockey stars and providing them with a platform to gain international exposure.

India's hosting of the event is expected to boost the sport's popularity and encourage more youth participation at the grassroots level. It also aligns with India's vision to become a global hub for hockey events, enhancing the sport's infrastructure and competitive standards in the country.
