Sindhu advanced to the quarter-finals after a straight-sets victory against Japan’s Aya Ohori. The match concluded with scores of 21-15, 21-11, demonstrating Sindhu’s dominance on the court.
In the men's singles, Kidambi Srikanth also progressed to the quarter-finals, defeating Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie in a closely contested match, with scores of 18-21, 21-17, 21-14. Srikanth’s resilience was evident as he recovered from a set down to secure the win.
The Malaysia Masters is a significant tournament on the badminton calendar, offering players crucial ranking points and preparation ahead of the upcoming Olympic qualifications.
India's doubles teams have also put on commendable performances, with the pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty reaching the quarter-finals. They overcame the Danish duo of Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen in three sets.
