Selkirk SLK Halo Control XL Pickleball Paddle Review & Buying Guide (India)
The Selkirk SLK Halo Control XL pairs an elongated face with a 16mm control core. Here is who it suits, how it compares and what it costs in India.
Selkirk SLK Halo Control XL review: a control-first elongated paddle
The Selkirk SLK Halo Control XL is priced at ₹13,400 on InstaSport. As the name suggests, it combines an XL (elongated) face with a control-oriented build. This review explains what those features mean for a club player in India and whether the paddle is worth its price.
Key features from the listing
- XL shape. The elongated face is described as expanding the sweet spot so contact feels more consistent.
- 16mm control core. A thicker core is listed as giving more control and feedback for precise placement and touch.
Check the product page for the full specification, including weight and grip details, before you buy.
What an XL shape and a 16mm core do for your game
Elongated paddles add reach and a longer hitting area, which many players like for drives and put-aways. A 16mm core generally feels softer and more controlled than a 13mm one, which can help with dinks, drops and resets at the kitchen line. Our guides to 13mm vs 16mm paddle thickness and paddle shapes explain the trade-offs in more detail.
Who should buy it
This paddle suits intermediate players who already rally comfortably and want more touch at the net. Doubles players who spend most points close to the kitchen are the clearest fit. If you are brand new, a cheaper paddle is a better first step; see best pickleball paddles for beginners.
Halo Control XL vs the rest of the Halo range
Selkirk lists several Halo paddles at the same ₹13,400 price on InstaSport, so the choice comes down to style rather than cost.
| Paddle | Price | Leaning |
|---|---|---|
| Halo Control XL | ₹13,400 | Control, elongated shape, 16mm core |
| Halo Control Max | ₹13,400 | Control, Max shape |
| Halo Power Max | ₹13,400 | Power-oriented |
Protect your investment
A premium paddle deserves a cover. The Selkirk SLK Paddle Protective Case (₹800) keeps the face safe in a kit bag, and our pickleball bag guide helps with carrying options.
Verdict
The Halo Control XL is a strong pick for control-minded intermediate players who want a long face and a thick core. It is not the cheapest route into the sport, but the spec suits players who have outgrown entry-level paddles. For a comparison with another Selkirk, read our Selkirk SLK Fury Max review.
