How is the SkiErg different from the RowErg?

The RowErg simulates rowing — a full-body seated pull exercise. The SkiErg simulates Nordic ski double-poling — a standing upper-body pull-through exercise with hip drive. Both use PM5 monitors. The SkiErg creates greater upper-body loading; the RowErg provides more lower-body involvement. Many athletes use both for complementary cross-training.

Can it be used for a full-body workout?

Yes — the double-pole motion with proper technique engages lats, shoulders, triceps, core, and hip extensors. It is not purely upper-body if the hip drive is executed correctly, making it a demanding full-body aerobic machine.

Does it require a subscription?

No — the PM5 works without a subscription. The Concept2 ErgData app and Online Logbook are free. Third-party apps like Zwift require separate subscriptions.
