What is the difference between CN-HG701 and CN-HG901 (Dura-Ace)?

CN-HG901 is Shimano's top-spec chain with lighter materials, tighter manufacturing tolerances and Silteq coating for longer life and smoother operation. CN-HG701 is the performance-tier chain that delivers nearly identical shifting for club and sportive use at lower cost. For most riders, HG701 is the better value choice.

How do I use the quick link?

Thread the chain through the drivetrain, join the two chain ends with the quick link plates from opposite sides, then apply light pedalling pressure to snap the link locked. To open: squeeze the two quick link pins towards each other (use quick link pliers for best results) and the link releases. Do not reuse the same quick link more than 3-4 times — replace with a fresh quick link when the chain is replaced.

Should I use wet or dry lube for Indian conditions?

Use wet lube during monsoon (June-September) and for coastal riding to resist water washout. Use dry or wax-based lube during dry winter months (October-March) when dust is more of an issue than water. Never apply lube to a dirty chain — clean first, then lube.
