Is 118mm the right axle length for my bike?

118mm is a common Power Spline axle length but not universal — verify against your crankset model specs or measure your existing axle. Wrong axle length shifts chainline and causes poor shifting.

Can I upgrade from Power Spline to GXP on the same frame?

Yes — GXP external bearing cups thread into the same BSA/73mm shell. GXP upgrade requires new crankset and GXP bottom bracket cups but the frame compatibility is the same.
