Wilson US Open GS 105 tennis racquet review: a roomy, budget-friendly Wilson

The Wilson US Open GS 105 is priced at ₹5,849 on InstaSport, marked down from a listed ₹8,999. The listing describes it as a combination of precision and power for players looking to lift their game. In this review we explain what a 105 square inch head means for a recreational player in India and whether the racquet is worth the money. Specification details such as weight and balance are best checked on the product page before you buy.

What the 105 tells you

The number in the name refers to head size in square inches. A 105 head is on the larger side, which generally means a bigger sweet spot, more forgiveness on off-centre hits and an easier time getting the ball over the net. That is helpful for beginners and returning club players. Players who like precise control often prefer smaller heads, as our Wilson Clash 100L V3 review shows. For a refresher on picking by level, see how to choose a tennis racket.

Who should buy it

  • Beginners and improvers who want a large head without paying premium racquet prices.
  • Casual weekend players in clubs and societies who want a dependable Wilson frame.
  • Parents or coaches looking for a spare racquet for guests or students.

Advanced players with fast swings will probably prefer a more specialised frame; check the listing carefully and, if you can, hold the racquet to feel the swing weight first.

Price context

At ₹5,849, it sits well below the premium Wilson frames on the site. If you want to move up later, compare it with models such as the Wilson Ultra 100 V5. Always compare current prices on the product pages.

What to buy with it

Balls matter as much as the racquet when you are learning. The Wilson Roland Garros All Court balls (₹505 per can) are a good match, with a dozen option for regular sessions at ₹1,535 for four cans. For comfort, Wilson Pro Feel dampeners (₹640) reduce string vibration. To carry the racquet, the Wilson Advantage 6 Racquet Bag (₹4,199) fits up to six. Grip size matters too; read our grip size guide before ordering.

Verdict

The US Open GS 105 is a sensible, affordable choice for beginners and casual players who want a large sweet spot and a trusted brand. If you play often and want a premium feel, spend more on a specialised frame. If you are on a budget and want to start playing this winter season, it is a safe pick.
