India, 22 November 2025 — India secured a commanding victory over Bangladesh in the first One Day International (ODI) of the series, played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Tuesday. The Indian team displayed a comprehensive all-round performance to win by 7 wickets, chasing down a target of 250 runs with ease.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Bangladesh managed to post a competitive score of 249/8 in their 50 overs. The Indian bowlers, led by Mohammed Siraj, who picked up 3 wickets for 43 runs, managed to keep the Bangladeshi batsmen in check, with only Mehidy Hasan Miraz standing out with a resilient 78.
In response, the Indian batting line-up made light work of the chase, with Shubman Gill leading the charge with an unbeaten 102. Supported by solid contributions from captain Rohit Sharma (55) and Virat Kohli (60), India reached the target in just 43.2 overs.
This victory provides India a 1-0 lead in the three-match series, setting a positive tone for the upcoming matches. The second ODI is scheduled to be played on November 24 at the same venue.
