Nottinghamshire Outlaws Crush Sussex Sharks with Unstoppable Centuries

Nottinghamshire Outlaws emerged victorious in their Metro Bank One-Day Cup clash against Sussex Sharks, securing an eight-wicket triumph at the picturesque Welbeck Cricket Club. Ben Slater and Haseeb Hameed starred for the Outlaws, notching up unbeaten centuries to guide their team to a comfortable victory.

Slater, known for his prowess in the List A format, showcased his batting brilliance once again, amassing 107 runs off 118 deliveries. His innings was studded with 13 boundaries, including a six. Hameed, the Outlaws skipper, also played a pivotal role, scoring 101 not out off 124 balls, with his knock featuring nine fours.

The duo forged a formidable partnership of 209 runs for the third wicket, setting a new county List A record. Their partnership proved too strong for the Sussex bowlers, who struggled to contain the Outlaws' batting onslaught.

Sussex, who had opted to bat first, were restricted to 216 all out in 47.5 overs. Fynn Hudson-Prentice top-scored for the Sharks with a valiant 90 off 109 balls, but his efforts were not enough to propel his team to a competitive total.

Luke Fletcher and Toby Pettman were the standout bowlers for the Outlaws, claiming three wickets each. Fletcher conceded 35 runs in his 10-over spell, while Pettman gave away 44 runs in his 9.5 overs. Brett Hutton, returning from an Achilles injury, also impressed with his economical bowling, taking one wicket for 41 runs in his 10-over stint.

The Outlaws' chase got off to a shaky start as they lost two early wickets. However, Slater and Hameed steadied the ship, guiding their team to a comfortable victory with 50 balls to spare.
