Nottinghamshire Outlaws Snatch Narrow Victory over Worcestershire Rapids

Nottinghamshire Outlaws finally broke their losing streak in the Vitality Blast, edging out Worcestershire Rapids by a nail-biting one run under the Duckworth-Lewis Method at Visit Worcestershire New Road.

After a dismal start to their campaign, the Outlaws' bowlers put in a disciplined performance to restrict the Rapids to a modest 141 for 6 on a tricky pitch. Alex Hales then anchored the chase with an unbeaten 50, guiding his side to a narrow victory.

Worcestershire's innings got off to a shaky start as Ben Lister dismissed Brett D'Oliveira and Josh Cobb in quick succession. Matthew Waite's dismissal left the Rapids reeling at 27 for 3. Ethan Brookes' departure further dented their hopes, but Nathan Smith and Adam Hose steadied the ship with a 69-run partnership.

However, Lyndon James broke the stand, removing Smith for 35. Hose battled on to make 43, but his dismissal in the penultimate over left Worcestershire with a daunting task.

Nottinghamshire's chase began cautiously, with Tom Taylor removing Joe Clarke early on. Hales took charge, smashing two sixes off Josh Cobb to put his side ahead of the Duckworth-Lewis target. Hayden Walsh briefly threatened with two wickets, but Hales' power-hitting proved decisive.

The Outlaws' victory was a much-needed boost after a disappointing start to the season. Worcestershire, on the other hand, suffered their third consecutive defeat.
