Quetta Gladiators' pacer Sohail Khan endured a disastrous outing in his side's Pakistan Super League (PSL) clash against Karachi Kings on Thursday. Khan's forgettable performance was marred by a moment of frustration that resulted in an overthrow and extra runs for the opposition.
In his opening over, Khan was punished for two boundaries. His second over proved even more costly, as he conceded a six and a four off consecutive deliveries. However, it was on the final ball of his second over that Khan's frustration boiled over. Visibly agitated, he hurled the ball back at batter Tim Seifert.
Khan's reckless act resulted in four extra runs for Karachi Kings, as the ball sailed over Seifert and the wicketkeeper's head. The incident left Khan visibly distraught, with the pacer covering his face in disbelief.
"This is almost typical Sohail Khan," remarked former Pakistan cricketer Bazid Khan on-air. "All throughout his career, he has a short fuse. And he's been pumped down the ground, well... he's made sure he conceded another boundary."
Khan's struggles continued in his second spell, as he finished with figures of 0/36. Karachi Kings went on to post a competitive total of 165/8 in 20 overs.
Despite Khan's poor performance, Quetta Gladiators managed to chase down the target off the last ball. Jason Roy and Sherfane Rutherford played key roles with half-centuries, while Saud Shakeel and Akeal Hosein made vital contributions.
The victory propelled Quetta Gladiators to second place in the PSL standings, just two points behind leaders Multan Sultans.
