Yorkshire Claim Innings Victory Over Gloucestershire

Yorkshire's dominance over Gloucestershire continued on day three at Scarborough, as they secured a comprehensive innings-and-22-run victory in the Vitality County Championship. The win marked Yorkshire's first of the season and breathed life into their promotion hopes.

Resuming on 168 for 7 in their first innings, Gloucestershire were bowled out for 197, with Jordan Thompson and Matthew Revis claiming three wickets each. Conor McKerr, making his Championship debut for Yorkshire, impressed with two wickets in the first innings and three more in the second.

Gloucestershire's second innings started promisingly, with Cameron Bancroft and Ollie Price putting on 55 for the first wicket. However, Yorkshire's patience paid off as they struck five times in the afternoon session, including a stunning one-handed catch by Adam Lyth to dismiss James Bracey.

McKerr's double strike late in the afternoon left Gloucestershire reeling at 82 for 5, and the writing was on the wall. McKerr struck twice more in the second innings, finishing with figures of 3 for 48, while George Hill claimed three wickets.

Zaman Akhter provided some resistance for Gloucestershire with a career-best 70, but his efforts were in vain as Yorkshire wrapped up the victory with 13 wickets on the day. Dom Goodman finished with an unbeaten 38 for Gloucestershire, but it was not enough to prevent Yorkshire from securing their first win of the season.
