Yorkshire Crush Derbyshire by Innings and 204 Runs
Yorkshire's dominance continued in the Vitality County Championship as they crushed Derbyshire by an innings and 204 runs at Chesterfield. Ben Coad's six-wicket haul and Vishwa Fernando's four-wicket haul proved too much for Derbyshire, who were bowled out for 171 in their second innings.
Yorkshire resumed their first innings on 416 for 6, with Jonny Tattersall looking to complete his century. He reached the milestone with a boundary off Daryn Dupavillon, but Yorkshire lost three quick wickets to fall short of maximum batting points. However, Fernando's boundary to third man secured the fifth point.
Derbyshire's second innings started disastrously as they lost both openers without scoring. Coad and Fernando ran through the batting order, with Coad claiming 6 for 30 and Fernando 4 for 58. Only David Lloyd (57) and Ross Whiteley (52) offered any resistance.
Whiteley's late flurry of sixes provided some entertainment, but Yorkshire's victory was never in doubt. It was their first back-to-back championship wins by an innings since 2015.
The overcast conditions favored bowling, but Yorkshire's decision to bat on and secure a fifth batting point proved crucial. Tattersall's century and Coad's devastating bowling performance were the highlights of a dominant display.
