India, 23 December 2025 — The Indian Women's Football League (IWL) will commence its new season in New Delhi on December 24, 2025. The tournament, which will feature 12 teams from across the country, aims to bolster women's football in India by providing a platform for female athletes to showcase their talent.
Defending champions Gokulam Kerala FC will look to retain their title as they face competition from other top teams such as Sethu FC and Kickstart FC. The league will be played in a round-robin format, with the top four teams advancing to the semi-finals.
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has expressed its commitment to enhancing the visibility and competitiveness of women's football through this league. AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey emphasized the federation's focus on providing better infrastructure and opportunities for female players.
The matches will be held at various venues in New Delhi, with strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols to ensure the safety of players, staff, and spectators. The league's opening match will see Gokulam Kerala FC taking on Hans Women FC.
With increasing interest in women's sports, the IWL represents a significant step towards equality and recognition for female athletes in India.
