India, 19 December 2025 — The Indian U-19 women's football team commenced their SAFF U-19 Championship campaign with a commanding 3-0 victory over Nepal. The match took place on Monday at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu, Nepal. Myra Kotecha, the Indian forward, led the charge by scoring twice, while midfielder Anju Tamang sealed the win with a third goal in the second half.
In the first half, India showcased superior ball control and tactical discipline, which allowed them to dominate possession. Kotecha's first goal came in the 25th minute, giving India an early lead. A second goal followed in the 40th minute, putting India in a comfortable position before halftime.
Nepal attempted to mount a comeback in the second half, but India's robust defense thwarted their efforts. Anju Tamang’s strike in the 78th minute ensured a resounding victory for the visitors.
