Leicestershire Foxes Edge Notts Outlaws in Vitality Blast Thriller

Leicestershire Foxes secured a crucial five-wicket victory over Notts Outlaws in the Vitality Blast, boosting their chances of reaching the quarter-finals. All-rounder Lewis Goldsworthy starred with a career-best 67, while Jimmy Neesham provided valuable support with 44 from 22 balls.

The Outlaws, batting first, posted a competitive 160 for six, thanks to Ben Martindale's 44 and Joe Clarke's 39. However, the Foxes' bowling attack, led by Scott Currie's two for 35, kept the score in check.

Leicestershire's chase got off to a disastrous start, losing three wickets for six runs. But Goldsworthy and Neesham steadied the ship, adding 76 for the fourth wicket. Goldsworthy's innings was a masterclass, featuring two sixes and six fours.

After Goldsworthy's departure, Neesham continued the momentum, hitting three sixes and two fours. Louis Kimber then drove Fazalhaq Farooqi for the winning boundary, securing the victory with an over to spare.

The win puts Leicestershire on 14 points in the North Group, but they may still need to defeat Birmingham Bears in their final fixture to qualify for the quarter-finals. The Outlaws, meanwhile, suffered their eighth defeat of the season, leaving them with little chance of progressing.
